Avignon is a very lively town with a rich historic past. Visit the Palais des Papes (built in the 14th century) and the famous Avignon bridge.
Nestled behind the well conserved ramparts, Avignon boasts pretty streets lined with splendid mansions.
It is has also been the capital of the theatre since 1947 and hosts the "In et Off" festival throughout the month of July.
